Hello I am running my VM for months and all of a sudden this morning after a reboot no way to restart my VM anymore. Actually it is stuck on boot screen showing VirtualBox logo. I have tried many things like resetting all settings to default in VirtualBox then create a new VM with default settings that uses my vbox disk. But no success in reviving the machine. A functional VirtualBox installation can only be recovered by the complete uninstallation of 7.2.4 and then a clean installation of the previous version. Downgrading without performing a full uninstallation still leaves a broken application which can't open any VMs.

VirtualBox 7.2 issues with W11 VMs by BrzI » 8. Sep 2025 22:25 Hi folks I have successfully added a W11 22H2 Enterprise VM. All the devices are correctly detected and everything works fine. But during the upgrade to W11 24H2 I get freezes (black screens) during the needed reboots. Reseting the VM makes the installation proceed to the next phase.

 

I solved it by manually downloading and installing the VirtualBox Extension Pack version 7.2.2. Apparently the automatic update didn't update the extension pack and there was a conflict with the older Extension Pack that I had previously installed.
