Occupying a lofty lonely spot overlooking the waters of Llyn Padarn native-built Dolbadarn Castle was once a vital link in the defences of the ancient kingdom of Gwynedd.

 

Dolbadarn Castle stands near the village of Llanberis in Gwynedd North Wales. It overlooks the waters of Llyn Padarn. The castle dates from the early 13th century and remains an important site for Welsh heritage. It is well-known for its tall round tower built by the Welsh prince Llywelyn the Great.

 

Dolbadarn Castle is situated near Llanberis in northern Wales and was built by the medieval Welsh principality of Gwynedd. Constructed in the early 13th century this fortress was established by Llywelyn the Great during the 1220s or 1230s.
